COURSE DESCRIPTION
Swim/Paddle:
PLEASE PLAN TO BRING YOUR OWN SWIM CAP IF YOU PLAN TO WEAR ONE.
To get you out there and to challenge yourself at the Alexandria Triathlon, participants will be able to choose between a 500 yard swim or a 1 mile paddle. For safety the swim and paddle courses will be separate, our goal is that the first swimmer and the first paddler will be exiting the water at approximately the same time. They are competing in the same awards category.
Swimmers are welcome to wear a wetsuit if desired, keeping in mind that the water temperatures will likely be in the 70s.
Those that choose to paddle are required to be solo in/on their watercraft. Kayaks, paddleboards and canoes are acceptable. Blow-up vinyl “floaties” are not allowed. Watercraft needing to be rowed are not allowed. Pedal powered watercraft are not allowed. Participants are required to be wearing a US Coast Guard approved life vest, and it must be worn from the start until your watercraft has been pulled up on the beach. Paddleboard tethers are not required but highly recommended.
Participants must carry/drag their watercraft and paddles solo from the beach up to a designated area near transition where volunteers will accept and safely store them, and then proceed into the transition area.
